[Test Note] Check Empire 2000E/III on my setup
Stanton 500 MkIII
The Stanton 500 MkIII continues the famous 500 workhorse series at the entry level. This MM cartridge pairs an elliptical stylus with a 3.1 mV output for any standard MM phono input. Rated tracking force runs from 1.0 to 2.0 g by specification. The replaceable stylus is the D5100E, and Phono Culture lists 2 compatible replacement styli.
The Stanton 500 MkIII, also seen as the 500 E MkIII, is a forgiving, easy-listening MM built around an elliptical stylus. Tracking leans relaxed rather than surgical, smoothing over groove wear and average pressings, while vocals come through with pleasant warmth and bass stays full-bodied without demanding a pristine setup. Casual listening, older records and budget to mid systems suit it well. The stylus is user-replaceable, an asset for DJ duty.
