Shure RXT4
The Shure RXT4 sits in the mid range of the American maker's MM lineup. Its 4 mV output suits any standard MM phono input. The hyperelliptical stylus rides the groove at a light 0.75 to 1.5 g with 1.25 g nominal. The replaceable stylus is the N97HE, and Phono Culture lists 7 compatible replacement styli.
The Shure RXT4 from the Era IV line, equivalent to the M97HE, draws a wide, stable soundstage with natural, warm vocals and solid bass weight through its hyperelliptical tip. Smooth dynamics keep well-worn records easygoing, and muted surface noise helps long sessions. Inserts appear labeled R9X or RSX4, with N97ED and N97xE compatible. The replaceable stylus refreshes the sound without swapping the cartridge.
