Shure M55E
The Shure M55E shared its construction with the maker's famous workhorse models of the day. This MM cartridge pairs an elliptical stylus with a 6.2 mV output for any standard MM phono input. Its light 0.75 to 1.5 g tracking force is gentle on records. The replaceable stylus is the N55E, and Phono Culture lists 2 compatible replacement styli.

Additional Info
The Shure M55E offers warm, forgiving character with a relaxed, musical presentation rather than clinical precision. Vocals come through natural and full-bodied, bass keeps decent weight without turning boomy, and the elliptical tip traces smoothly over well-worn or slightly imperfect records. Jazz, rock and casual long sessions on modest systems fit it well. The stylus is replaceable, and the body accepts many M44-series inserts.
