Shure M44-7
The Shure M44-7 earned its reputation as a DJ workhorse thanks to rugged tracking. This MM design uses a conical stylus and tracks at 1.5 to 3.0 g, so it stays in the groove during heavy use. Its 9.5 mV output drives any standard MM phono input. The replaceable stylus is the N44-7, and Phono Culture lists 3 compatible replacement styli.

Its forgiving character shines on beat-up records and DJ work, shrugging off surface noise instead of exposing it. The conical tip sits on a replaceable stylus, and the natural habitat here is hip-hop and scratch duty rather than critical audiophile listening.
