Rega Exact
The Rega Exact tops the British maker's MM lineup in the upper mid range. Its high 7 mV output suits any standard MM phono input. The house Vital stylus with its Fine Line cut runs at a rated tracking force of 1.75 g. Stylus replacement uses the same Vital assembly from the maker or a dealer.
The Rega Exact leans into a smooth, vocal-forward presentation with a naturally rendered midrange and a relaxed top end that stays composed rather than clinical. Detail and imaging keep the soundstage coherent without analytical fatigue, and the aluminium cantilever with its Vital Fine Line tip pairs happily with modest tonearms and phono stages. Rock, jazz and vocal material reward it across the board. The stylus is integrated, so wear calls for a professional retip.
