Pickering TL3-S

The Pickering TL3-S is a MM cartridge with a 4.4 mV output, so it mates easily with any standard MM phono input. Its hyperelliptical stylus assembly carries the designation DTL-3S and the owner can swap it at home. Recommended tracking force runs from 0.75 to 1.5 g. Phono Culture lists one compatible replacement stylus for this mid-range model.

Additional Info

The Pickering TL3-S leans forgiving and easygoing rather than forensic. Its hyperelliptical tip gives natural, unstrained vocals and a smooth, non-fatiguing top end, so imperfect pressings and older records stay pleasant. Detail and imaging hold solid without turning surgical, and bass stays reasonably controlled, which makes it a relaxed musical choice for vintage rock, jazz and everyday listening. The stylus is replaceable, keeping the cartridge serviceable for years.
