Japan Piezo YM308 IIX
The Japan Piezo YM308 IIX uses an IM generator and works into a standard MM phono input. Its 4 mV output needs no extra gain from the phono stage. The elliptical stylus tracks from 1.4 to 2.0 g with 1.7 g nominal. The replaceable stylus is the AN-308 IIX, and Phono Culture lists 2 compatible replacement styli.
The Japan Piezo YM308 IIX of Tri-Pole Induced Magnet design favors smooth, natural vocals and solid dynamics over forensic detail. As a relaxed companion for rock, jazz vocals and well-worn records, its touch of warmth masks surface imperfections, while the elliptical grinding keeps tracking gentle rather than razor-sharp. The stylus is replaceable, so wear never calls for a retip.
