[Test Note] Check Empire 2000E/III on my setup
Grado 8MR
The Grado 8MR uses the American workshop's house MI generator design. Its 3.5 mV output feeds any standard MM phono input. The elliptical stylus runs at a rated tracking force of 1.5 g. The replaceable stylus shares the 8MR name, and Phono Culture lists 2 compatible replacement styli.
The Grado 8MR is warm and forgiving with a natural, engaging midrange where vocals sit forward and textured rather than clinically precise. Dynamics feel lively, and bass carries enough density to ground rock and vocal jazz without turning analytical. Largely indifferent to phono cable capacitance, it spares owners loading fuss. The elliptical stylus is replaceable, keeping the cartridge easy to live with.
