[Test Note] Check Empire 2000E/III on my setup
Denon DL-160
The Denon DL-160 is a high output MC cartridge in the mid range class. Its 1.6 mV output plugs into a standard MM phono input without a step up transformer. The nude elliptical stylus tracks from 1.3 to 1.9 g with 1.6 g nominal. The stylus is integrated, so a worn diamond calls for retipping.
The Denon DL-160 offers a natural, engaging midrange with a slightly forgiving top end, so vocals and acoustic instruments come through with warmth rather than clinical precision. Imaging stays stable and well-layered, bass keeps decent density without bloating, comfortable for jazz, folk and vintage rock through MM phono inputs thanks to its high output. The stylus is integrated, so wear leads to a retip.
