Denon DL-109D
The Denon DL-109D is a mid-range MM cartridge built around a nude elliptical stylus profile. Its 3 mV output feeds any standard MM phono input, so no step-up transformer or dedicated MC stage is needed. Rated tracking force runs from 1.5 to 2.1 g with a nominal setting of 1.8 g, and the replaceable stylus assembly carries the DSN-35 designation. Phono Culture lists two compatible replacement styli for this model.

The Denon DL-109D builds on the classic DL-107 platform, where the light-alloy tapered cantilever gives a relaxed, densely bodied low end and a naturally rounded midrange with vocals forward and smooth rather than analytical. Its nude elliptical tip keeps tracking calm and non-fatiguing, favoring jazz, vocal and rock over hyper-detailed classical. The stylus is replaceable, and the DL-109D and DL-109R share this body while differing only in tip.
