Audio-Technica 3003
The Audio-Technica 3003 belongs to the mid range of the brand's MM lineup. Its 5 mV output suits any standard MM phono input. The elliptical stylus rides the groove at a light 1.0 to 1.5 g. The replaceable stylus is the ATN3472SE, and Phono Culture lists 2 compatible replacement styli.
The Audio-Technica 3003 from the Studio Reference line delivers a warm, forgiving presentation with natural vocal timbre carrying the sound. Bass has decent body without overwhelming pace, dynamics stay lively rather than explosive, and the elliptical tip on a thin-wall cantilever keeps busy passages smooth. Vocal jazz, singer-songwriter records and long easy sessions suit it well. The stylus is replaceable when worn.
