The Audio-Technica 3003 from the Studio Reference line delivers a warm, forgiving presentation with natural vocal timbre carrying the sound. Bass has decent body without overwhelming pace, dynamics stay lively rather than explosive, and the elliptical tip on a thin-wall cantilever keeps busy passages smooth. Vocal jazz, singer-songwriter records and long easy sessions suit it well. The stylus is replaceable when worn.
